Mechanical reasoning tests are used to evaluate a person's ability to use the concepts of mechanics or electronics to solve problems. Mechanical Reasoning (also called mechanical comprehension) is the ability to understand mechanical and physical concepts. MECHANICAL APTITUDE TESTS are basically for to analyze the mechanical knowledge of Candidate.

At ISSB, these get added importance for GDP and technical courses like TCC and CAE. These are used to evaluate your ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts to solve problems.
How is Mechanical Aptitude Test (MAT) Conducted at ISSB:
The Mechanical Aptitude Test (MAT) at ISSB comprise of basic concept of physics and use of normal intellect. Often abbreviated as MAT, is a test in which candidates are assessed for understanding the simple machine and mechanic laws. The laws are based on common sense. These are simpler test, candidates with normal intelligence should be able to do well in the MAT. These tests are based on common principles of following simple machines.
1. Lever, Pulley, Spring, gears
2. Simple electrical circuits
3. gravity, friction, pressure, moments, energy transformation, kinetic and potential energy, work and power,
4. Clockwise directions Anticlockwise rotation
- Use of calculator is not permitted.
- 50 questions are to be answered in 30 minutes. These are multiple choice questions.
- The test is done on re-usable handbook, its not undertaken using computer
- Old candidates may ticked some answers on the Booklets. You need to be intelligent to verify that answer and correct. The answer of the old student may or may not be correct. So use your own judgement.

Yes, its true. Mechanical aptitude test at ISSB is not held for repeater candidates.
